The distractors

The individual becomes confused with the ideas, attitudes, and behaviour of the people. His confusion about yoga and its styles and practice may distract him to get into the practice of yoga.

There are a few people all over the world who impose their ideas and personal views and opinions on others and mislead them. These people think too much of themselves and posing themselves as the most intelligent and learned persons.

If you have too many choices you may get into troubles. If you want to drink a cup of tea and if there are too many types and brands of tea, you think a lot to select one type. After selecting that type of tea and if the taste of the tea is not to your expectation, you get disappointed. This disappointment you may hide orally but your body does not.

This is what the practice of yoga is. Do not think that yoga should be practised only in yoga schools. Yoga is to be practised everywhere: "By controlling the senses".

The senses are noted for their erratic and unpredictable behaviour. In spite of advice or good wishes, the senses insist to have their own way. They run after any object they like, of their own free will.

The married people and the followers of grihastha ashrama are the most responsible persons of the society. They have a lot of duties and obligations to discharge according to their status and position in society.

When you see your teacher and if you feel that your teacher needs this thing or that, etc., do not buy and take it to the teacher. The teacher may not require that thing which you buy but he may need something better than what you take to him.

The Upanishads speak of how the Guru will perform his duties and observes various rituals. The Guru will be praying the God, "Oh! Lord, May my body be fit; may my tongue be sweet; may I hear the good through the ears. Let me have that prosperity which brings, increases and accomplishes quickly for the food, clothes and other needs forever. May the disciples come from all sides, in various and proper ways".
